MALLORCA 2020
Mallorca 2021 Training Camp and Vacation
Come join us for the sixth annual Tryon Bike Mallorca spring training camp and vacation.
2021 is still TBD due to...well you know. I'll leave 2020 info up so you can get a feeling for what the trips are like.
Everyone is welcome to join
Mallorca is one of the world's great cycling meccas and also very affordable. We get to take advantage of a strong US dollar right now. (Check currency at xe.com)
Check out Malloca here: http://www.seemallorca.com/
The island is both mountainous and flat, so you can vary your rides each day or get a bit of everything in one big day.
This is not a fully supported bike tour, but rather a chance for us all to have an excuse go to Spain and have a good time riding. You can pick your arrival and departure dates, how much you ride, and where you eat. There are usually two different group rides each day, depending on your abilities, but you are also welcome to explore on your own or with any sub-group. Dinner is typically decided by the group at the last minute each day depending on how we feel, or you can choose the meal package at the hotel. Tryon Bike does not make any profit or get any kickbacks from the vendors we use. Any group savings are passed on to riders.
We are planning on leaving Rochester April 20ish (final date being worked), arriving April 21st. Stay for as little or as long as you like. Les and Jocelyn will be there until about May 1
It is also a nice vacation spot for non-riders and significant others. There are lots of small villages to explore, and a nice beach right behind the hotel. For the adventurous, you can also use this as a jumping off point to see other parts of Europe.
A cool event during the trip (April 25,2019) is the big gran fondo http://www.mallorca312.com/ It sells out each year, so book early if you want to participate.
Our home base again this year will be the Hotel Ivory Playa. http://www.hotelivory.com/en/

Right across the street from Ivory Playa is a convenient spot to rent bikes or store your own if you want to bring your baby. They provide secure access to the bikes. www.bicimed.com
In the past, riders have had mixed results with their level of service. Another option we used in 2019 was http://www.wheelssport.net/
The hotel does not allow bikes in the rooms, so regardless of where you rent your bike (or if you bring your own) you will need to get the bike storage package from Bicimed, which includes secure bike storage, water and sport mix each day for your bottles, a self serve bike wash and basic adjustments. It costs €4.20 per day. This has always worked smoothly for us.
If you bring your own bike and need mechanical help, Les is always available and there are dozens of nearby bike shops.
The hotel in Alcudia is quite far from the airport (opposite end of the island). You can book a shuttle but be warned, the shuttle may/will take a number of hours to get you to the hotel depending on the day/time you arrive. It stops at many hotels. You can also take a taxi which will likely be about €100 or rent a car. We prefer to rent a car and have found Hiper Rent A Car (https://www.hiperrentacar.com/en/Car-Rental-Notes/Car-hire-interesting-Links/car-hire-mallorca) to have the best deals. I'll share arrival dates and times with the group for people who want to share a taxi or rental car.
